You heard this, right?

Morrissey turns down 75 million dollars to perform with the Smiths.

How did that go?

Hey Morrissey, I'll give ya 75 million dollars ($75,000,000.00) if you 'reunite' and perform 'as the Smiths' with Johnny Marr.

No?

Seventy Five Million Golden American Dollars.

Is that a lot of money ?

Yes, well, An Irreverent and Thoroughly Incomplete Social History of Almost Everything by Frank Muir was laying in wait at the Kiwanis sale. On the back there is a picture of him with two Afghans. Who doesn't love an Afghan? It also has lots of aphorisms. Who doesn't love an aphorism? Here's a fun one:

Musical innovation is full of danger to the State, for when modes of music change, the laws of the State always change with them.

Plato (428-347 B. C.) The Republic

and this

A great fondness for music is a mark of great weakness, great vacuity of mind: not of hardness of heart; not of vice; not of downright folly; but of a want of capacity, or inclination, for sober thought.

William Cobbett (1762 - 1835) Advice to Young Men, and (incidentally) to Young Women, in the Middle and Higher Ranks of Life

aren't those rich?

If music changes, then so do the laws of the state. What if music changes back? What happens to the laws of the state when we return to the music of 1958? How does that work? How about if we return to 1635?

Um hmm. Thought so.

Thin gruel, I know, I know. It's that end of summer paralysis. Residual K-12 damage manifest in a life long dread of September. Can you dig it?

Oh, one more thing, who here has heard The John Blum Astrogeny Quartet record?
